First of all, if you ever happen to go and see this train wreck, remember to grab some popcorns...
MJ approved that. ;)
Ok, so the beginning was an okay build up of the film starting with hanging and drowning three crying and screaming village women for don't-know-what reason. But with this supposedly being a horror action film, it must have had something to do with demons, witches, curses and stuff. And then the supposedly heroes, Behman and Felson (just when I thought names couldn't get any weirder after Audio Science Clayton, Camera Ashe and Ireland Baldwin... not saying Ireland is weird but you get what I mean) portrayed by Nicholas Cage and Ron Perlman came along to help guiding a supposedly possessed witch to Debelzaq, a monastery where the monks would decide if she were to live or die. Along the journey, yes, she played tricks and killed a few other unnecessary characters. Just as anyone would have expected. The journey wasn't easy either, otherwise the film wouldn't have needed the heroes... Anyway, the girl eventually turned into a demon and killed all the supposedly heroes but left with an inexperienced, young, runaway altar boy who supposedly happened to know how to read the ritual that supposedly killed the demon.
At the very end of the film, the once possessed girl revealed her name, to be Anna...
Finally!! A normal name!! Shocking!! Best twist ever!... didn't know it was supposedly a thriller... too? You know what they say "save the best for last", this film did just that. Jokes aside, this film had very little actions and not much horror either.
Now let's talk about the Nicholas Cage and Ron Perlman double act, which had to be the worst double act I have ever seen. The acting wasn't good, Ron's jokes didn't work, at least not for those who I saw the film with. The conclusion was that Hellboy and Ghost Rider just don't go well together!! Anyway, I understand that it was not meant to be an Oscars winning performance from the actors but this film had very little to back the poor acting up... not only the acting but the entire disastrous film in general really, and that was disappointing.
In short, it seemed to me like a fail rip-off of many other horror action films, which we have all seen a million times and were even better than this.
The only good thing, for me personally, was to see Ron Perlman without all the red paint and fake manboobs and abs... oh wait, he looks better with them on... Jokes. I'm all for natural beauty.
Yes, I am.
Finally, I would give this film an unprofessional 5.5 out of 10. That's all. Thanks for reading.
I loved this review...and the comment about natural beauty. :D Anyway thanks for letting me know not to waste my money on this one.
